Logistics Coordinator (Nigeria + China) – Role Summary

The Logistics Coordinator is SOLAPS’s end-to-end supply chain owner — managing the full import journey from Chinese manufacturers to the SOLAPS Lagos warehouse, and the subsequent distribution of products to distributors across Nigeria. Reporting to the Nigeria Marketing Manager, this role navigates the complexities of Nigerian customs clearance, Apapa Port operations, NCS documentation, inland logistics, and China-side freight coordination. Getting product from Shenzhen to a distributor in Kano efficiently, compliantly, and cost-effectively is this role’s core mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• China Import Management: Coordinate all aspects of the China-Nigeria import cycle: purchase order placement, freight forwarder management, shipping documentation, and shipment tracking.
• Customs Clearance: Work with licensed customs agents to ensure efficient, compliant NCS clearance at Lagos ports; manage HS code accuracy and duty computation reviews.
• Documentation Compliance: Coordinate Form M, CCVO, Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing List, and Certificate of Origin for every shipment in collaboration with the Finance/Compliance team.
• Landed Cost Tracking: Calculate and track the fully-landed cost per unit for every shipment; flag cost variances and recommend cost reduction opportunities.
• Domestic Distribution: Plan and execute last-mile delivery to SOLAPS’s distributor network across all active states — Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Ibadan, Port Harcourt, and others.
• Vendor Management: Manage relationships with freight forwarders, customs agents, and domestic logistics providers; maintain backup vendor options for business continuity.
• Logistics Reporting: Deliver a weekly logistics status report and monthly supply chain performance report to the Nigeria Marketing Manager.

KPIs:

1. Import Efficiency:
   • Average customs clearance time at Apapa Port: under 7 working days.
   • Zero shipments held due to documentation errors or non-compliance.
2. Landed Cost Management:
   • Track and report fully-landed cost per unit within 48 hours of customs clearance.
   • Identify and implement at least one cost reduction initiative per quarter.
3. Domestic Distribution:
   • 100% of distributor deliveries completed within 5 working days of warehouse receipt.
   • Proof of delivery collected for 100% of all domestic shipments.
4. Supply Chain Visibility:
   • Real-time shipment status available to the Nigeria Marketing Manager at all times.
   • Weekly logistics report delivered every Monday morning without prompting.
5. Vendor Performance:
   • At least 2 qualified backup vendors on file for both freight forwarding and customs brokerage.
   • All vendor SLAs reviewed and updated quarterly.

• Reliable Supply Chain: A consistently fast, compliant, and cost-efficient import and distribution operation that never becomes a bottleneck to sales.
• Cost Optimisation: Demonstrable reduction in per-unit landed costs over 12 months through smarter freight consolidation, duty management, and vendor negotiation.
• Compliance Excellence: Zero customs delays, zero regulatory violations, and a complete documentation archive for every shipment.
• Distributor Satisfaction: Distributors receive accurate, on-time deliveries with zero short-delivery disputes traced to logistics failures.
• Scalable Operations: Supply chain processes documented and systematised to support 3× volume growth without proportional headcount increase.

Compensation:

• Base Salary: $22,000 – $35,000 per year (based on experience).
• Performance Bonus: Up to 15% of base salary, tied to clearance time, cost targets, and delivery performance.
