Micro-Container Inventory Manager – Role Summary

The Micro-Container Inventory Manager owns SOLAPS’s physical inventory — from the moment goods arrive at the Lagos warehouse to the moment they leave for distributors or corporate clients. Reporting to the Nigeria Marketing Manager, this role is responsible for implementing a robust inventory management system, maintaining 100% stock accuracy, managing quality inspections on incoming China shipments, and ensuring that SOLAPS never faces a stockout or overstock situation. As SOLAPS scales from thousands to hundreds of thousands of units annually, the inventory function becomes mission-critical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management System: Implement and manage a fit-for-purpose inventory management system (IMS) to replace spreadsheet-based tracking; ensure real-time stock visibility.
  • Goods Receipt: Oversee the complete goods receipt process for all China import shipments: physical count, quality inspection, system entry, and discrepancy reporting.
  • Quality Control: Conduct incoming inspection of all shipments; classify and manage defective units; coordinate supplier claims for faulty goods.
  • Demand Planning: Calculate reorder points and safety stock levels; generate purchase requisitions in time to prevent stockouts given 45-day China lead times.
  • Stock Control: Conduct regular cycle counts and annual full stock takes; maintain inventory accuracy above 99% at all times.
  • Outbound Coordination: Process and release stock for all outbound orders — distributor deliveries, corporate orders, and returns — in coordination with the Logistics Coordinator.
  • SOP Development: Design and document all warehouse and inventory SOPs to ensure process consistency and scalability.

KPIs:

  1. Inventory Accuracy:
    • Maintain stock count accuracy above 99% at all times.
    • Zero unresolved discrepancies older than 5 working days.
  2. Goods Receipt:
    • 100% of incoming shipments inspected and entered into the system within 24 hours of arrival.
    • All incoming quality defects documented and supplier claims raised within 48 hours.
  3. Demand Planning:
    • Zero stockouts on any active SKU.
    • Reorder requisitions submitted with a minimum of 60 days’ lead time before projected stockout.
  4. Quality Control:
    • 100% of incoming shipments inspected before release to sales-ready stock.
    • Defect rate tracked per shipment and reported monthly to the Nigeria Marketing Manager.
  5. System Implementation:
    • IMS fully implemented and live within 60 days of hire.
    • All inventory data migrated from spreadsheets to IMS within 90 days.

Expected Results/Outcomes:

  • Zero Stockouts: SOLAPS never loses a sale due to stock unavailability — demand signals are captured early and procurement is triggered on time.
  • Accurate Books: The Finance Manager and Sales Manager always have a real-time, accurate view of SOLAPS’s physical inventory value.
  • Quality Assurance: Defective units are caught at the warehouse before reaching distributors or customers, protecting SOLAPS’s brand reputation.
  • Scalable Operations: Inventory processes and systems that can support 10× volume without breaking.
  • Cost Savings: Reduced write-offs, improved supplier accountability for defective units, and smarter inventory positioning across the supply chain.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $16,000 – $25,000 per year (based on experience).
  • Performance Bonus: Up to 15% of base salary, tied to inventory accuracy and stockout prevention KPIs.
  • Other Benefits: Health insurance, data/airtime allowance, and professional development opportunities.
